UL 2580 Test Standard Should Be Perform (EV Electric Vehicle Battery)

Environmental Tests
  • Thermal Cycling
This test determines the electrical energy storage assembly's ability to withstand exposure to rapidly changing environments such as when the vehicle is entering or exciting a heated garage after being in a cold environment, or during transport etc. without evidence of damage that could lead to a hazardous event.

A fully charged electrical energy storage assembly (MOSOC per 6.1) shall be subjected to the thermal shock test to the electric vehicle battery abuse testing and hyrid electric vehicle rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) safety and abuse testing, SAE J2464, except that the temperature extremes are from 85 + 2'c to -40 + 2'c (185 + 3'c F to -40 + 3' F).

  • Salt Spray Test
This test determines the electrical energy storage assembly's ability to safety withstand anticipated exposure to a salt mist conditions due to either to vehicle use near environments, or due to salt de-icing utilized on roads during winter months.

A fully charged electrical energy storage assembly (MOSOC per 6.1) shall be subjected to the test method per the standard  for environmental testing - Part 2: Tests - Test Kb : Salt Mist, Cyclic (Sodium Chloride Solution), IEC 60068-2-52, with a severity level of 6.
